MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — During Friday night's game between the Orlando Magic and the Minnesota Timberwolves, there was a fight and punches were thrown.
After the fight, which broke out in front of the Orlando bench near the end of the third quarter, five players were kicked off the court. Austin Rivers, a guard for Minnesota, and Mo Bamba, a center for Orlando, were the first ones to get into it, but other players on the court soon joined in.
The Timberwolves kicked Rivers, Jaden McDaniels, and Taurean Prince out of the team. Jalen Suggs and Bamba were both kicked off the team for Orlando.
Rivers was right in front of the Magic bench while the game was going on at the other end of the court, as the replays showed. When Bamba came off the bench, Rivers was seen on video punching Bamba. Later, Suggs grabbed Rivers and swung him to the court. McDaniels and Prince got involved in the fight.
Rivers missed a 3-point shot from in front of the Orlando bench a few minutes earlier, and Bamba and Markelle Fultz could be seen reacting to it.
The fight happened one night after Memphis Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell got into a fight on the court.
Brooks hit Mitchell in the groin area after the Grizzlies guard had fallen to the floor in the third quarter on Thursday. In response, Mitchell threw the ball at Brooks and then pushed him.
Both of them were kicked off the court during Cleveland's 128-113 win. After that, Mitchell said that Brooks was a bad player.
The NBA punished both players on Friday. Brooks will miss one game without pay, and Mitchell will have to pay a $20,000 fine.
