Rob Pelinka, the vice president of basketball operations and general manager for the Los Angeles Lakers, said, "We're excited to have Rui and his family join us." "It was a goal to add both size and depth to the wing position, and the chance to do that by getting a player with Rui's two-way skills and potential wasn't something that comes up very often. We want to thank Kendrick Nunn and his family for his time as a Laker, and we wish him the best for the future.
This season, Hachimura has played in 30 games for the Wizards, all of them as a reserve. He has averaged 13.1 points per game, shooting 49% from the field and 34% from 3-point range. In the 2019 draft, he was the ninth pick.
