The team says that Portis will be looked at again in two weeks.
Portis, who is 27 years old, left Monday's game early in the fourth quarter. He had 18 points and 10 rebounds. This season, the player from Arkansas has played in every game and has averaged 14.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
Milwaukee's two-week schedule says that Portis will likely miss at least seven games. His absence hurts the Bucks even more, since they haven't been at full strength for a long time this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton have just come back from their own injuries.
The Bucks are third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 30-17.
